What this is
Two replacement chains for Milwaukee’s M18 FUEL HATCHET 8” pruning saw, model 3004-20. Milwaukee’s own chain for this saw is 49-16-2750. This pack is cut to the same size: 8”, 3/8” low-profile pitch, .043” gauge, 33 drive links.
Two HATCHET saws, two different chains
Milwaukee sells two pruning saws under the HATCHET name, and their chains are not interchangeable:
- M18 FUEL HATCHET 8” (3004-20) takes this chain.
- M12 FUEL HATCHET 6” (2527-20) takes Milwaukee’s 6” chain, 49-16-2732, with 28 drive links.
The 3004-20 can also be fitted with Milwaukee’s 6” bar, 49-16-2733. If yours has been switched to that bar, it needs the 6” chain, not this one.
”8-inch” is not enough to match
DeWalt’s 8” pole saw chain (DWO1DT608) is also 3/8” low-profile with a .043” gauge, so it looks like the same part. It has 34 drive links. Count the drive links on your old chain before ordering: the HATCHET chain has 33.
Fitting it
The 3004-20 does not have a tool-free tensioning knob. Milwaukee’s manual has you set tension by turning the chain tensioning screw with the adjustment tool. The factory bar, 49-16-2751, is a small-radius sprocket-nose bar.
