What this is

Two replacement chains for Ryobi’s 40V HP brushless 20” chainsaws: the RY405011 (bare tool RY405011BTL, kit RY405110) and the newer RY40HPCW03 (RY40HPCW03B / RY40HPCW03K). Both manuals list chain 682774001, sold at retail as RY20C1: 20”, 3/8” low-profile pitch, .050” gauge, 70 drive links. This pack is the same size.

Check the bar and the saw

20” bar only. The RY40HPCW03 can also run an 18” bar, which takes a 62-link chain. For Ryobi’s 18” saws see our Ryobi 18” chain.
Not the gas RY5020. Same 20” length, but it uses a .325” chain with 78 links.

Fitting it

Both saws tension with a chain-tensioning screw. Ryobi requires a replacement chain equivalent to the original or certified low-kickback to ANSI B175.1, and lists only its specified bar and chain combinations.

Frequently asked questions

Does it fit the Ryobi RY5020 gas saw?

No. The RY5020 is also 20", but it takes a .325" pitch chain with 78 links.

My RY40HPCW03 has the 18" bar. Will this fit?

No. Ryobi also approves an 18" bar for the RY40HPCW03, and it takes a 62-link chain (682309001). This chain is for the 20" bar.

Both saws, one chain?

Yes. The RY405011 and RY40HPCW03 manuals list the same chain, 682774001, though the bars have different part numbers (682773001 and 682773002). Ryobi's retail RY20C1 lists both saws.

How tight should it be?

The RY405011 tensions with a screw. Ryobi's warm-chain check: the drive links should hang about .050 in. out of the bar groove.
