What this is
Two replacement chains for EGO’s 16-inch POWER+ saws. EGO’s own part for these saws is the AC1600; this pack is an aftermarket chain cut to the same size — 16”, 3/8” low-profile pitch, .043” gauge, 56 drive links — with semi-chisel cutters.
It is a low-kickback chain. That matters on these saws: EGO’s CS1610 manual says “Use only low-kickback chains on this saw.”
Two saw generations, one chain
EGO has sold two generations of 16-inch saw, and the last digit of the model number only tells you what came in the box:
- CS1600 family — CS1600 is the bare tool; CS1604 adds a 5.0Ah battery and charger.
- CS1610 family (the “40cc” saw) — CS1610 is the bare tool; CS1611 comes with a 2.5Ah battery, CS1613 with a 4.0Ah battery.
Both generations take the same AC1600 chain on the same AG1600 bar, so this chain fits whichever one you own.
Check these before you order
- Look for “CSX” on the saw’s label. That is EGO’s Commercial line. Its 16-inch chain is a larger .325” chain, and this one won’t fit it.
- Check which bar is on the saw. EGO’s CS1610 manual approves a 14-inch bar (AG1400) as an alternative. If your saw has been switched to it, you need the 14-inch chain.
- Low-profile is part of the size. EGO lists the pitch as “3/8 in. Low Pro”. Standard 3/8” chain is a bigger chain and does not interchange with low-profile.
- Count the drive links on your old chain. It should be 56.
Fitting it
On the CS1610, CS1611 and CS1613, chain tension is set with a knob, no wrench needed. EGO’s manual gives this order:
- Take the battery out.
- Loosen the side-cover knob until it is only finger-tight.
- Turn the tensioning knob clockwise until the chain sits snug on the bar with no sag underneath, but still pulls around by hand.
- Tighten the side-cover knob again.
New chains stretch, so check the tension again after the first few cuts. Set it on a cold chain: tension set while the chain is hot will be too tight once it cools. EGO’s FAQ says the CS1600 and CS1604 also use a tool-less tensioning knob.
